A Marvel comic has explored the idea of what would happen if the heroes set out to take down the villains, and the result is dark.
One of the most common ideas in superhero comics, and in turn also a criticism within these universes, is that these characters with superpowers they don’t usually choose to end the villain problem root, but it seems like a game in which the bad guys commit some misdeed and then be caught by the good guys and sent to prison.
It’s a vicious circle, because the bad guys always manage to escape from jail. For this reason, there is a tendency to criticize their passive position in this regard, since they have the necessary power to eradicate evil from its foundations, but they avoid doing so. However, in the Marvel comics this idea has been worked on in which the heroes eliminate the villains once and for all, but it has turned out to be counterproductive, since the consequences are high. Next, we tell you all the details.
Marvel heroes were about to become villains

The Last Avengers Story series deals with a rather dark alternate reality in which the heroes kill the villains
As we have recently mentioned, the passive attitude of the heroes of having to wait for the villains to commit misdeeds has been quite criticized. Therefore, Marvel decided to explore, through an alternate and rather dark realityWhat would a world look like where heroes take responsibility for eradicating the bad guys.
This is not something completely new for Marvel, because we have already seen it in the plot of Civil War IIin which one group of heroes wanted to proactively take down the bad guys before they did any misdeeds, while the other group preferred to stick to the way they were doing it, you know, keeping the the status quo. As a result of this conflict of ideals, an internal war began.
In the comic created by Peter David and Ariel Olivettientitled The Last Avengers Story, we move to one of the strangest Marvel universes, in which the most powerful heroes on the planet, The Avengers, are facing their nemeses, such as Kang, Ultron and the Grim Reaper. However, in this world, most of the superheroes are retired or have died, but this is not the worst thing, since the vast majority of villains have disappeared.
These facts are a consequence of the plan of villain cleaningcarried out by the government of the United States, in which the task was assigned to all the heroes to capture the most dangerous supervillains and imprison them. So far it seems common, but it’s not the worst.
When the villains were imprisoned, the government secretly murdered everyone these villains in an operation called “villain massacre”.
The Last Avengers Story tackled a reality where the heroes were more ruthless than the villains
This reality shown by The Last Avengers Story series shows us what would happen if the heroes set out to kill the villains, instead of taking them to prison
In this comic, we have been able to Witness the wicked side of Marvel heroes, because it is clear to us that, if they really wanted to finish off the villains, then they would not survive. Especially since the latter are unwilling to work together to try and stay alive.
This event, in the comic itself, unleashed a wave of divided positionsbecause half of the country’s inhabitants were happy that this threat had finally ended, as all the villains were killed, while the other was enraged, since civil rights had been violated.
