Thomas Ouwejan was one of the cornerstones of the Knappen team in the successful mission to return to the Bundesliga. The loanee from AZ Alkmaar is committed and has signed a contract with S04 until 2024.
As the WAZ reported, after the successful ascent, a mandatory purchase option had taken effect, which should be around two million euros.
“Thomas has impressively demonstrated this season why we really wanted to bring him over last summer. He is one of the best wingers in the second division and is also a great threat in standard situations. We are very happy that Thomas is staying with us and will also enrich our game in the Bundesliga,” explained sporting director Rouven Schröder.
In 27 second division games, the 25-year-old Dutchman directly prepared eight goals. The second-best preparer for the Knappen is looking forward to the future at Schalke: “I’ve always said that it’s my dream to get promoted to the Bundesliga with Schalke. It’s fantastic that we’ve achieved the goal. I feel at the club and at the The city is fine – it just fits. That’s why I’m looking forward to starting the next season together with the team after a short breather.”
