Duke was only a six-month-old puppy when someone threw him away in a garbage can at an apartment complex in Columbus, Ohio, United States. He was trying to get out of that disgusting place, but he was literally buried in garbage bags.
Fortunately, it was David Carlson, a waste disposal worker, who noticed him, who immediately alerted his supervisor Logan Sieg. The man ran to the scene and went into the big dumpster to get the puppy out and save it.
“It’s shocking to see a dog in the dumpster. It’s not something you usually see – Sieg explains to WBNS -. It was shocking to imagine someone throwing it in there and getting rid of it like that. ‘
After rescuing him, Carlson and Sieg entrusted him with the Franklin County dog shelter that took care of him. And it was from that moment that Duke, as he was called, took his first steps towards a new life. And to give it to him were Brandon Dawson and his wife who adopted him: «We walked along the last row of cages in the shelter – says the couple -. They made us sit and see the dog. He immediately jumped up and hugged us. It was love at first sight ”.
Dawson says Duke is still recovering from his ordeal: “He has a couple of scars on his hind leg and he has a couple of sores on both hind legs from urine burns. He has all the potential to live a long and healthy life and that someone has tried to take it away from him is cruel and wrong. My wife and I are grateful to those who discovered and saved him in that dumpster and we are simply super happy to have adopted him ».
