Sebastián Jurado is a goalkeeper with great potential. This was demonstrated since he made his first steps in the first division with the Red Sharks of Veracruz. The young goalkeeper showed a lot of personality and conditions since his debut, although the results and performance of the school squad did not accompany him. After his brilliant appearance in Liga MX, and the disappearance of the Veracruz team, the goalkeeper signed with Cruz Azul.
In the Celeste Machine, Jurado has not had an easy time. The Mexican goalkeeper has had to wait on the substitutes’ bench because José de Jesús Corona, despite his seniority, is still a top-level goalkeeper. Likewise, the player from Veracruz has had to compete with Andrés Gudiño, another goalkeeper with interesting characteristics, to play minutes when Corona leaves the goal free.
Jurado arrived at Cruz Azul for Clausura 2020 and since then it has been difficult for him to find regularity and rhythm with the cement workers. Two years after his arrival at the capital team, the 24-year-old soccer player is finally getting the opportunity to consolidate himself under the three sky-blue posts. After the injury that has sidelined Jesús Corona for several weeks, the young goalkeeper entered the net and has offered good performances.
The goalkeeper played eight games in the Clausura 2022 regular season and left his door clean on three occasions. In the playoff match against Necaxa, Jurado became the great figure of the Celeste Machine to qualify for the quarterfinals. Jurado was key in obtaining the ticket to the league thanks to his great performance in the penalty shootout.
In the definition by penalties, Jurado stopped the attempts of Fabricio Formiliano and Arturo Palma. In this way, Cruz Azul, under the orders of Juan Reynoso, qualified for the next phase of the tournament. Apparently José de Jesús Corona is fully recovered from his injury and could return to play in the final phase of the tournament.
Jurado, with this type of performance, has earned the benefit of the doubt and the opportunity to play more minutes with the La Noria team.
