David di Donatello: Paolo Sorrentino and Freaks Out the most awarded.
The 67th edition of the David di Donatello, returned to the historic Cinecittà studios, crowns It was the hand of God for best film. After having taken beating in all the international events then, back within the friendly walls, Paolo Sorrentino can appear on stage several times, truly thanking all those who contributed to the success of his most personal and most heartfelt film that won five statuettes (in addition to the ‘heavy’ ones for best film and best director to remember David at the Best Supporting Actress Teresa Saponangelo, the prize for photography ex aequo with the other award-winning winner of the event Freaks Out and David Giovani).
Another is the film that wins most of all: Freaks Out by Gabriele Mainetti is full of technical awards, makeup, hairstyle, special visual effects, scenography and photography, as well as the prestigious one for the best producer, received by the director Gabriele Mainetti, by the triad of Lucky Red composed by Andrea Occhipinti, Stefano Massenzi and Mattia Guerra and a representative of Rai Cinema, who supported the film. A well-deserved recognition to those who have had the courage to invest in innovative cinemadespite the pandemic and the economic crisis.
Among the performers it was said of Teresa Saponangelo but the surprise is the best leading actress Swamy Rollborn in 2004 and still a minor for To Chiara by Jonas Carpignano. Visibly moved on the stage of the ceremony, she declares:“I thank the Accademia del Cinema Italiano for my family who have always supported and supported me, my friends, my sisters and Jonas who, besides being a brother, introduced me to this world”. To win the prize he had to overtake the bookmaker favorite, among others Miriam Leonecharming as always in Diabolik of the Manetti Bros and another revelation, the twenty year old Aurora Giovinazzowhich in Freaks Out showed all his great talent.
In spite of the predictions, even the vottoria of the veteran Silvio Orlandobest leading actor for the role, atypical for him, of a powerful criminal who ended up in prison directed by Toni Servillo in Still air. A part that, as he himself admits, made him uncomfortable because it was very far from his character. Milgoiore supporting actor is instead Eduardo Scarpetta, 29 years old son and grandson of art in Here I laugh. He thanks the director Mario Martone and dedicates the statuette, barely holding back tears, to his father Mario, who passed away when he was eleven and a half years old. With him the victorious Neapolitan actors rise to three out of four, an extraordinary result.
Two special David awards Sabrina Ferilli And Antonio Capuano – he too returned to the honors and the memory of many from the film by Paolo Sorrentino, in which he appears as the director’s mentor. Lifetime Achievement Award a Giovanna Ralliface of the Italian comedy, which starred with great partners such as Mastroianni and was directed by masters of the caliber of Roberto Rossellini And Alessandro Blasetti.
