Julian Nagelsmann has publicly warned twice in the past few days that the point for changes should not be missed. However, this does not necessarily mean that you have to get five or more new players. The Bayern coach would also like to start in his own squad and change a few things. the BILD suspects that Nagelsmann’s plan for the new season is based on five pillars.
Nagelsmann is a coach who demands enormous variability from his players like no other. Being top notch in a position is no longer enough. With regard to the new season, the 34-year-old would like to breathe more variability into his stars so that they are no longer so stuck in their positions.
“I’m currently creating position profiles that we feed with videos so that every player, if he plays in an unfamiliar position next season, can look at his cell phone and see four or five points in the video that are in demand in terms of position,” she quoted BILD the Munich coach.
While Hansi Flick stubbornly stuck to the 4-2-3-1 system, Julian Nagelsmann tried out more this year. Again and again you played in the 3-4-3 system and sometimes in the 4-1-4-1 system. The Bayern professionals should not be enthusiastic about the frequent system changes. I feel the team is partly “overwhelmed” and would rather play in a 4-2-3-1 system throughout. Nagelsmann apparently wants to use proven tactics, especially in important games.
In the past few weeks, some experts have put forward the thesis that things are no longer quite right in the Bayern team. The “Mia-san-Mia feeling” always fell by the wayside. As a result, they suffered catastrophic bankruptcies, like the one against Mainz 05 last Saturday. The mentality that characterized Flick Bayern so much seems to have been lost.
Again and again the players seem to be too busy with themselves. Be it a disgruntled Leroy Sané or the players who have to deal with possible contract extensions. The great team spirit doesn’t seem to be there at the moment. In the future there will be more joint team evenings. The Bayern coach does not like the fact that most Bayern stars leave immediately after games.
Julian Nagelsmann makes no secret of the fact that he wants to see new players. “If you ask in the free economy, that’s the first point that big companies change when things don’t go well: exchange staff to bring in a fresh breeze and fresh blood,” explained the 34-year-old.
As of now, Munich are probably about to transfer Ryan Gravenberch and Noussair Mazraoui. In the meantime, however, there are also indications that a new central defender could come. It could be another Ajax youngster with Jurrien Timber. Konrad Laimer is also a candidate in midfield.
However, new players could also be raised from the youth section. Players like Wanner, Tillman or Vidović have the potential to play a bigger role next season.
Julian Nagelsmann was the spokesman again and again in his first season. Even the CEO Kahn and mostly Hasan Salihamidzic often held back quite a bit in public. The same applies to Herbert Hainer. It was usually the coach who had to take a stand on the many issues. In the coming season Nagelsmann will need more help from the top.
In addition, his two assistant coaches, Dino Toppmäller and Xaver Zembrod, should be involved more in individual training with the Bayern pros. Nagelsmann does not want to change his style in principle.
