There new Honda Hawk 11 is the retro sports car daughter of Africa Twin. At the time of its presentation, however, at the 38th Osaka Motor Show, Honda had not disclosed the technical details of this new model, intended – for now – for the Japanese market. Details that come now, let’s see them together.
To push the bike we find the twin cylinder front-speed 1,084 cc engine, which already equips Africa Twin, Rebel 1100 and NT1100. Power and torque are identical to those of the AT and NT1100, ie 102 hp at 7,500 rpm. and with a peak torque of 105 Nm at 6,250 rpm. The Hawk 11, however, will only be available with the classic 6-speed gearbox; no DCT option for her. Available four driving modes: Sport, Standard, Rain and User, fully customizable. The pilot can choose to adjust the power level, that of the tracion control and that of the engine brake. The tank is 14 liters, the declared weight of 214 kg, the saddle is 820 mm above the ground.
Also the chassis is the same as the NT1100, with double descending beam frame with split semi-double cradle, Showa Big Piston upside-down fork, central shock absorber and 17 ”rims, with 120/70 and 180/55 tires. 1,510 i mm of wheelbase. The braking system exploits, at the front, 310 mm diameter discs with Nissin radial-mount four-piston calipers; behind is a 256mm disc with single-piston Nissin floating caliper.
On the new Honda Hawk 11 we also find round LCD instruments in black / white, LED headlights and unusual mirrors mounted on two brackets that start from the handlebar and emerge in the hollow of the fairing. The driving position is moderately sporty, with the two-piece handlebar mounted under the upper steering plate. The shape of the windshield refers to that of the Honda CB4 Interceptor designed by Valerio Aiello, who gave birth to the Neo Sport Café family, with the large central round headlight and an enveloping half-fairing.
