Playing Taboo to face your own taboos: it could not be called that ‘Taboo’to be understood in its double meaning of play and analysis, the brilliant comedy by Alessandro Bonanni, directed by Giovanni De Anna and the original music by Serena Mente, on stage until 8 May at Golden theater in Rome directed by Andrea Maia.
The protagonists are five old friends – played by Lorenza Giacometti, Noemi Sferlazza, Giulia Marinelli, Lorenza Sacchetto, Giulia Di Turi – who meet several times in a playroom during the hours when children are not hosted. Each of them has an unsolved problem: diet, social media and sex, imminent marriage and addiction to future husband, money and work, offended nature and esotericism. And a sixth friend, summoned, who has been in a coma for some time but for whom she is always ready the birthday cake.
“The encounters in this playroom highlight five very different people, with five stories which at times are intertwined, but which are absolutely independent from each other – explains the director – The relationships between these five girls are the focus of the story: real relationships and normal lives, never touched by particular tragedies or by particular successes but with an impending dramatic situation. Is the board game of Taboo then just a pastime or does it become an excuse to discover real taboos? “.
