The Polestar range may currently only consist of one model, but that doesn’t mean the Chinese Swedes are sitting still. In the coming years, the range will not only be expanded with an electric SUV in the form of the Polestar 3 and a large saloon called Polestar 5, but the manufacturer will also keep its Polestar 2 up-to-date with a subtle refresher. It mainly focuses on what you can’t see, although you might feel the difference.
Slightly more Standard Range
You may have heard it here before, but the driving range was, in our opinion, one of the less surprising aspects of the handsome Polestar 2. The manufacturer now wants to change that, because Polestar uses the cell chemistry of the battery in the Standard Range in particular. version in hand. That is the basic version that has to make do with a single electric motor, and that gets the smallest battery in the range. Until recently, it had a capacity of 64 kWh and that is now growing to 69 kWh, good for a new WLTP driving range of 474 kilometers.

The update also has an effect on the power of the electric motor, according to Polestar. It now does not send 224 hp, but 231 hp towards the front wheels; the same as the example in the Long Range version with single engine. In addition, the fast charging capacity also gets a boost. For example, the new basic Polestar 2 can collect power at speeds of up to 130 kW. There is also good news for owners of the Performance version, because the software update that just adds 68 hp to that version is now also available with us — for a fee, that is.
Attractive and sustainable
In addition, some tangible adjustments appear on the model. You can now choose two new paint colors under the names ‘Space’ and ‘Jupiter’, but especially the handsome new rims will attract our attention. Not all changes have an aesthetic benefit, however, because in typical Polestar style, the 2 is also made a bit more durable. For example, they now cover the seats with a more responsible Nappa leather and the use of low-carbon aluminum in the rims and battery housing should further reduce the ecological footprint. Moreover, in addition to the origin of the cobalt, Polestar now also traces that of the mica used in battery production.

The updated Polestar 2 is available to order immediately, and deliveries should start around September this year. For the improved Standard Range Single Motor version they now ask 47,900 euros, a Long Range Single Motor should cost 51,900 euros and for the Long Range Dual Motor you have lost 55,900 euros.
