Unstoppable Celtics star closes with 39 points, boos for the Nets who are now 0-3 behind in the series
Boston sees the second round, the Nets instead the end of another disappointing season. The Celtics with personality once again find the right answers to the Durant-Irving duo, they rely on the inventions of a super Tatum (39 points) and in the end they win as a great team race-3 109-103. Boston can then pull off the sensational coat on Monday at Barclays Center.
All eyes on KD at the start after the incredible 0/10 in the second half of race-2 but the leader of the Nets in the first minutes remains on the sidelines of the attack in Brooklyn. An excellent Brown thinks about giving a good boost to the home team that reaches +7 before Tatum’s acceleration. The Celtics star with eight consecutive points forcefully enters the match and brings the guests forward. Boston begins to raise the defensive intensity, Brooklyn, on the other hand, is a lot of confusion and runs into turnover in series. An unstoppable Tatum closes a first quarter in a crescendo in which Durant takes only two shots from the field, however, finding the retina with both. Irving and Brown keep the home team in their wake, but they also start the second period badly and go down by nine points.
Grant Williams also makes his debut in the series and makes his contribution on a defensive level. Pritchard also starts producing, with a couple of splendid baskets pushing the guests to +12. Durant continues not to look for the ball, Irving goes to AC, good for Nash that Brown (16 points) plays the best first half of his career. Pritchard continues to find the basket but the plays of a wild Brown bring back the Nets. The Celtics lose clarity in the first half final, allow a couple of offensive rebounds to an excellent Claxton and Brooklyn thus manages to limit the damage, arriving at the rest three points late. Really strange first half by Durant who takes only five shots from the field and tries little for the ball. The Nets are playing for the season yet their start to recovery is staggering. Little intensity and a lot of confusion, so there are four turnover in the first five offensive possessions.
I extend it
Boston with the plays of Tatum returns to the advantage in double figures and just to make things more complicated Irving sees his fourth foul whistled in the middle of the fraction. Durant tries to enter the game with a couple of conclusions from the perimeter, even Boston commits a few too many naiveties and keeps a team that seems in disarray in the game. Nash also dusts off Griffin in the final but Boston remains firmly in front and closes the third quarter 81-72. Irving runs into his fifth foul at the beginning of the final fraction, Griffin’s energy and his triples serve like bread, the problem for Brooklyn however comes in the defensive half with Brown and Tatum always finding an answer to the gusts of the masters home. KD is a ghost, Tatum instead is devastating and the Celtics return to +12 at 5’35 ” from the siren. Brooklyn seems already on vacation, he also loses the little discipline shown during the race and Boston thanks. Smart takes guests to +15 three minutes from the siren with the whistles starting to come from the stands of the Barclays. Brooklyn proudly tries to play it until the end, arrives at -5 in the final seconds but from the line Tatum closes the score. “We are a complete team – comments a radiant Ime Udoka at the end of the match – our leaders make the difference because they can also have a positive effect on the supporting players, I am really proud of them”. “Too many turnover and offensive rebounds allowed – says Steve Nash – now we have to bring out our pride and think only of Monday’s match”.
