Genoa – Peak admissions of Covid positive patients at the San Martino hospital in Genoa. In the last week, hospitalized people have gone from 42 to 75 (in all of Liguria there are 3,003 of which 9 in intensive care): at San Martino the situation is under control, but in at least half a dozen departments the level of attention has risen.
Not only that: the health management – at the forefront the health director Gianni Orengo – who is monitoring the situation hour by hour has been forced to prohibit patient visits to hospitalized patients in two wards: the Neurorehabilitation Clinic where there are 12 positive patients (9 are still hospitalized) and the Monobloc cardiologywhere the positives are 7 (of which 4 hospitalized).
Also in the Monobloc, but in Medicine, six positive patients were transferred, as well as three hospitalized in emergency Orthopedics and Traumatology were isolated in an area reserved for Covid patients. In all cases, these are people who have entered the hospital for health problems unrelated to Covid.
The increase in Covid cases had been put in the budget, as he points out the general manager of Alisa, Filippo Ansaldi. “In the last few days we have seen a 30% increase in hospitalizations of Covid positive patients. The phenomenon is attributable both to some small hospital clusters, quickly controlled, and to new entries related to the slight increase in incidence in subjects between 65 and 79 years, as well as over 80, at the end of March. Since then, the incidence in this age group has been rather stable ”.
It is not excluded that the San Martino management decides to prohibit visits to hospitalized patients in other departments as well if the number of positive cases should rise again.
