MILAN. For Gianluca Savoini an invitation to resign as vice president of Corecom Lombardia arrives today from Pirellone. This is in fact the request contained in a motion approved by the Lombardy Regional Council. The text would be passed thanks to the decisive contribution of the votes of the center-right majority: with the secret vote, the point concerning the position held by Savoini received 34 votes in favor and 32 against. If the opposition has voted together, at least six votes of the majority councilors are dancing. According to the councilor of the M5s, Dario Violi, the vote at Palazzo Pirelli “clearly shows the split within the majority. A majority in which not only the center-right actually turns its back on the League, but where the League itself turns its back on Salvini and his magic circle ». Position also shared by the Democratic Party. “A jolt of dignity, albeit by secret ballot, by the Lombardy Regional Council – declares the leader of the dem group in the Region, Fabio Pizzul – A vote that sounds a bit like a slap to Salvini by the assembly of his own Region . During the debate, the leader of the Lega Anelli group defined Savoini as a “man close to the League”, but this was not enough, indeed, perhaps it contributed to the result ».

The bellyache of the League was expressed on the sidelines of the vote by the leader of the Carroccio, Roberto Anelli: “With the secret vote someone voted in favor of the premises that were unacceptable to us”, explains the Northern League exponent, who however minimizes the political repercussions: «It is certainly something that does not work as far as the majority is concerned. We held the meeting of the group leaders and we had an indication to vote: evidently there was someone who did not follow this indication ».
In the motion that received the green light from Pirellone, the Lombard parliament expressed “dissent with respect to the permanence of Gianluca Savoini, by his own admission, an unconditional admirer of a regime that is enemy of the freedom of the press and of truth, among the members of the regional authority who has the task of guaranteeing and controlling free information in Lombardy and has therefore invited them to resign ”. “I want to thank those majority colleagues who, protected by the secret vote correctly requested by colleague Carretta, have chosen to cast a vote in favor of freedom of the press and of expression, first of all protecting their freedom to vote as elected officials – explains the councilor of + Europe, Michele Usuelli, first signatory of the motion – The Lombardy Regional Council does not consider it appropriate for an unconditional admirer of the Putin regime, extender of increasingly repressive laws to sit at the top of the body responsible for ensuring the correctness of information in Lombardy against freedom of the press, such as the latest approved on 4 March by the Duma which condemns journalists who shed light on the military operation in Ukraine with up to 15 years in prison ”.
The text was also signed by the councilors Fabio Pizzul (PD), Niccolò Carretta (Action) and Elisabetta Strada (Lombardi Civici and Europeanisti). Within the motion there is also a point to safeguard the life and work of Russian independent reporters and a commitment to the Lombard junta in evaluating the possibility of setting up extraordinary scholarships reserved for fleeing reporters who have been pressured by the Kremlin for their information activities.
