Casey Stoner runs in defense of Pecco Bagnaia: “They should calm down …”
It was not a simple start to the season for Pecco Bagnaia, who after the skimpy point in the first two races was finally able to shake up in Rio Hondo, finishing fifth and making up for a really bad qualifying Saturday on the Argentine track.
The Piedmontese driver was very nervous in qualifying that saw him finish 14th, and many criticized his maneuver on the straight, when he braked sharply. Former Ducati rider Casey Stoner defended him on Twitter, however: “The MotoGP commentators have to calm down because Pecco Bagnaia decelerated off the line. There was nothing wrong with that and it wasn’t dangerous. I often braked. strong when I was not on the trajectory to avoid hindering another rider. “
However, Bagnaia himself then apologized on Saturday evening for the maneuver: “When you’re nervous you make mistakes, I’m sorry. I was angry with some colleagues who were waiting … But it was only my fault”. The good comeback on Sunday is a new start for Pecco, who will look for confirmation in Austin before returning to Europe.
