In honor of the month in which International Women’s Day is celebrated, today I open my space for Nega Gizza
I want to use this space to talk about “occupation”, the place where the woman has been and where she wants to go.
Whether in the profession, in politics, in public and private companies and in the virtual world, women have been present, not in the right proportion, but we value this advance, as it is part of a progress strategy that the women of Cufa have encouraged for a long time. years old.
Our leaders within the favelas, which are 47% female, according to a survey by the Data Favela Institute, act precisely to take them out of the subjugation of male-dominated society. But we are also here as an activist group, making political influence in the state to correct inequalities and guide a political agenda that favors gender equality.
The participation of women in the political organization of society is undeniable. We build organizations and social movements, we carry out the union struggle and we enhance the struggle in political parties, however this expressive political participation does not convert into presence in the spaces of power.
In a sexist society, dominated by heteropatriarchal logic, it is only possible to face gender inequalities by creating policies that promote women’s access to positions of power, since most of the institutional rules related to this issue were created by men.
We found that limiting these strategies to the reservation of quotas for disputes in elections does not respond to the challenge of guaranteeing gender equality, which, according to UN Women, is a fundamental condition for a democratic, fair and inclusive regime.
Considering the diversity of Brazilian women, it is necessary to recognize that black and indigenous women are even more underrepresented, a fact related to historical inequalities, the little investment for women to have the opportunity to develop their leadership potential and the difficulties of reconciling tasks. of domestic life, in our context relegated almost exclusively to women and which exert an even greater weight for single mothers in peripheral territories. Added to this is the daily battle for survival.
For 2022, we have programmed the International Meeting of Women from Cufa, which will provide new knowledge and experiences through lectures, training and workshops with other female references.
The active voice of women in decision-making is essential for us to advance in the definition of public policies to reduce exclusion.
Gizza care is a rapper, social activist, one of the founders of Cufa and the institution’s women’s movement
