The mutant, known as PA2, is a subspecies of OmicronNow, nearly a quarter of new cases of corona are at the level of United Stateaccording to CBS“.
A new study of two million people in Denmark between November and February found 187 “recurrent” cases of coronavirus. Of those 187 cases, only 47 people had the first omicron and PA2 mutant.
According to Healthline, the majority of people in the study who were infected with both omicron sub-mutants were young and unvaccinated. They had no serious cases.
This study reassured many that those infected with the Omicron mutant, the dominant mutant in the past months, are very difficult to contract with the new sub-mutant.
Because there is a lot of similarity between the two omicron sub-mutants, many people who contracted coronavirus in the last winter wave will be “protected” from reinfection in the short term.
The new estimates come as sub-ratios raise concerns in the rest of the world, with cases of the new mutation rising to dominate cases reported worldwide – including in countries now facing a renewed wave of infections.
It is estimated that the PA2 mutant is up to 40 percent more transmissible than the previous Omicron version.
