Cat lovers have the opportunity to have a unique experience in a coffee shop in Medellin, Colombia. In fact, in this place the cats roam freely among the customers intent on having a drink or having lunch and dinner. This café is called La Gatoria and here all the cats are sick, abandoned or in distress and have the chance to be adopted.
Inside the restaurant, cats can play with customers or even relax lying on chairs to receive cuddles. All of them have different personalities and some like to be the center of attention, as shown by several photos posted on social networks. However, sometimes customers have to be careful not to leave food unattended as it could be stolen by cats.
It all started seven years ago when Liliana Zuluaga started volunteering and helping cats with leukemia. Five years ago she financed the creation of a foundation for felines, and also the opening of the La Gatoria café. The woman says that there are currently about ten cats in the room, and adoption is possible for each of them.
Some of them have already been adopted. A kitten named Ofelia, for example, has recently started the process of approaching and getting to know her new owners before being adopted. This kitty was saved from a bad situation, and although Liliana enjoyed keeping her with her at the coffee shop, she later decided to give her up for adoption. Thanks to the presence of cats, this place has become famous and attracts more and more visitors, with the aim of making everyone aware of the protection and welfare of animals.
