CFMOTO 1250 TR-G: arriving in Europe? – News – Moto.it

This is the case, at least in part, with the CFMOTO 1250 TR-Ga European-inspired tourer that is supplied to the Chinese police forces (under the name of CF1250J) but also, from September 2021, on sale in China at the equivalent price of 13,200 euros: so many elements on the bike that already at the time of its presentation at the show hinted that it had been conceived with an eye on exporting beyond internal borders, even if the current engine configuration does not comply with the Euro 5 legislation and would preclude the import into the Old Continent. But we are sure that for CFMOTO it is not a big problem to update the engine to the latest anti-pollution regulations, unless it has already done so and has the Euro 5 version ready at home.

La 1250 TR-G is one of the fruits of the partnership born in 2014 between the Chinese group Zhejiang Chunfeng Power Co., Ltd (which controls CFMOTO) and KTM (which owns 49% of this joint venture), a collaboration that also translates into the production of the Duke 125, 200 and 390 branded KTM R2R for the local market, but also in the construction of a factory that should have been fully operational in 2020 if the pandemic had not got in the way; as well, obviously, to translate into license for the production of KTM LC8 V2 of 75 ° in its 1200 cc version, then further developed by CFMOTO increasing it up to the current ones 1,279 of the Italian Civil Code.

This engine was therefore chosen for the 1250 TR-G and delivers 140 horses at 8,500 rpm and maximum torque of 120 Nm at 7,000 rpm, while the tourer’s equipment is very complete: brake calipers Brembo radial attachment, suspensions Marzocchi and Sachs (but there were also some WPs), 12.3-inch TFT, cornering ABS, infotainement with JBL system, connectivity, heated saddle and grips, electrically adjustable windscreen, all high-level features that certainly made people talk about the 1250 TR- G al Salon of Lyonwhere the bike was recently put on display by the French importer to test the reactions of the public.

S.Can i therefore speak of an imminent import into Europe? Beyond the mere technical question of the Euro 5 homologation, if the responses of the public were encouraging there should not be too many conceptual limits to propose the 1250 TR-G in direct competition with the current queens of the segment such as the BMW R 1250RT, from which it could, however, differ – and not a little – for two characteristics. The first is the lack of final drive with cardan shaft on the 1250 TR-Gthe second is the selling price which could settle in Europe from the parts of 16,000 euros: at least 5,000 euros lower than the BMW R 1250RT and, instead, closer to that of the Honda NT1100 which, however, does not fall into exactly the same segment and is therefore not so directly comparable.

S.we will see in the coming months if CFMOTO, already on the shields a EICMA 2021 where he brought the MT800 and enriched the CL-X range, will unveil at the next Milan Motor Show the first Chinese large-displacement grand tourer to land in Europe or whether this primacy will be the prerogative of Benelli 1200 GT from 136 cv and 12.2 kgm at 6,500one step away from being marketed in China but about which we know nothing about its export to other markets.
