The new season of “E Aí, Beleza?”, a talk show by Complete presented by makeup artist Fabi Gomez, come on! In the premiere episode, on March 9, the first guest will be the presenter Angélica, in an unmissable chat.
Meanwhile, remember the conversation that Daniela Mercury had on the last show, navigating through subjects that are essential in her life – from the beginning of her career to her political positioning and in favor of LGBTQIA+ rights.
Married to journalist Malu Verçosa “from a past role”, the singer known as “queen of axé” has a trajectory of struggles, for being a woman and for having revealed, eight years ago, her bisexuality.
At 56 years old, Daniela is also an example for other women who don’t fit into the “age group” box. “After 50, I thought I would slow down and no nothing happened,” he said.

Daniela Mercury at “E Aí, Beleza?”: what happened in the chat
With more than 35 years of career, the interpreter of “O Canto da Cidade” and many other hits of Brazilian music has always been close to the arts. A dance teacher at 16, she started singing at a young age and, during the interview, she recalls that she got on an electric trio for the first time in 1983. “I was very small and their technology was very bad. and I had to sing very hard. It was eight hours a day. And I still haven’t earned a fee, because whoever hired the people disappeared.”
The pace to pack revelers on the avenue has not slowed down with age, says Daniela. The physical preparation to sing and dance at the same time, however, is an important part of the routine. “I do continuous exercise, to keep the muscles strong.”
When it comes to beauty and makeup (Fabi’s place of speech!), Daniela also delivers her trick. “I always have mascara on my eyelashes to give an ‘up’, even if I don’t do the skin. And I use a lighter liquid foundation in the center of the face and a darker one around it. With that, I mix”, she explains, making circular movements with the hands.
Another tip: before starting the skin, and after moisturizing the face, Daniela applies orange lipstick in some areas where the contour is usually applied. The product gives more “depth” to the makeup.
“I am a woman open to experiences”
In the chat, Fabi Gomes asks Daniela if she has a dimension of the importance of having revealed herself as bisexual, and what it has been like to raise the LGBTQIA+ flag to seek and maintain rights.
I don’t even like to use the verb assume. We are diverse in our sexuality and I am a woman who is open to experiences”, explained the interviewee. “But it is shocking to participate in the community and feel firsthand how violent homophobia is, it is another world.
The union with journalist Malu Verçosa, announced eight years ago by Daniela, reverberated positively, especially among LGBTQIA+ people who did not feel so open to talking about sexual orientation or gender identity with family members. “The fact that I spoke of my love for Malu with pride and tranquility was impressive. I was already a well-known artist.
It was beautiful to see people talking about it with their families. This fight had to be mine too.
Policy: “Whoever exempts is focusing only on his life”
Classifying the Bolsonaro government as “mediocre” and “undemocratic”, Daniela Mercury pointed out what she thinks about the “exempt”, people who do not take a public political position.
“They are only focused on their lives, they are missing the chance to help the country improve”, he countered, in response to Fabi. “Omission is a political attitude. There is no neutrality, especially when there is oppression, discrimination. When we are going through the destruction of culture and the rights of the most fragile, as is now in Brazil.”
For her, a collective mobilization is necessary to “hold the structures” in the face of this reality.
“There are those who do not speak out about what is happening, which is violent with their territory, with their people, with their rights, in this mediocre and undemocratic government… And we need everyone to hold the structures.”
