The first render of the Super Touring
THEThe second new model that will be unveiled at Daytona is called Baja DR 1190where the acronym stands for Dune Racer.
It is an off-road bike with the trellis frame derived from the 1190HCR with which Buell participated in the AMA Pro National Hill Climb championship in 2020.
In this case, the swingarm has been shortened, and is adjustable in length to determine a wheelbase from 1,670 to 1,770 mm.
The 1190 V-Twin engine, in this case, has a power of 175 horses and 12.7 kg of maximum torque. “The fastest off-road vehicle in the world” announces Melvin, who adds “Only 1 of the world’s roads is paved, the Baja DR is designed to dominate the other 99% and will give riders the freedom to go anywhere in the world, faster and with more power using the 1190 engine. Baja DR is a beast that will bring back the passion for American motorcycles “.

The 1190 HCR for the Hill Climb
TOThe Baja DR is also expected to be in production in 2023 and its price was disclosed in $ 19,995 (17,900 euros), can always be booked from March 5th.
As many will remember Erik Buell he no longer has anything to do with the company that bears his name, while the former Harley-Davidson engineer and then founder of Buell taken over by the Milwaukee company now deals with electric vehicles with his company Fuell: presented the e-bike Flluid-1S and soon it should launch electric motorcycles Fllow.
A long relaunch
Qhen Harley-Davidson in 2008 decided to close the Buell mainly due to the famous financial crisis, and for the same reason he also sold MV Agusta, Erik Buell tried to leave on his own.
But he was not allowed to use his name, so he created the HEBR (Erik Buell Racing) and managed to put the 1190RR And 1190RSof the evolutions of the Harley-Davidson 1125R.
In 2013 Buell signed an agreement with Hero Motocorp which seemed interested in investing in high-beam models, but soon the Indian house slipped away and in 2015 the EBR was forced to close and failed.
Hero bought the research and development part of EBR, while LAP (Liquid Asset Partners) and its CEO Bill Melvin they acquired the rest from the bankruptcy procedure.
In 2020, the LAP company then obtained the rights to the Buell name: the headquarters are now in Michigan, in Grand Rapids
