That’s what two boys said to newspaper De Limburger on their way home. “We had just been in cafe De Lange for two minutes when the music stopped and everyone was asked to go home.”
CPR didn’t help
According to a police spokeswoman, the stabbing occurred around 7:35 p.m. on Sint Lambertusplein in the Limburg village. Police have yet to say anything about the suspect. Nor whether he had been arrested or fled.
Emergency services attempted to resuscitate the victim. But the deployment of a trauma helicopter also proved in vain. The seriously injured victim died on the spot.
Research
The police have cordoned off the square in the center of Horst and are investigating. The spokeswoman was not yet able to say what led to the stabbing. The identity of the victim is not yet known.
Immediately after the stabbing, all carnival activities in the center were shut down. The music went out, the cafes emptied, everyone went home. Some people cried and were comforted by others.
