Genoa – “I accept the compliments of Senator Matteo Renzi: in fact the Public Prosecutor’s Office of Genoa has always been efficient in time, both when investigating magistrates and when investigations are on other subjects “.
This was stated by the prosecutor of the Ligurian capital Francesco Pinto, after yesterday Renzi had made fun of the “lightning-filing” of the proceedings against the Florentine magistrates who hold the file on the financing of Open Foundationwhich Renzi himself had reported in recent weeks for abuse of office.
“I congratulate – were the words of the former prime minister – because in just over a week the time was found to read the ninety pages of the complaint and give a prompt response, as always should be done in front of citizens’ requests. I happened to be registered in the register of suspects and then archived, but after a good 17 months. If Genoa takes only 10 days it means that it has an extraordinary efficiency which I can only rejoice in, giving many compliments. I am sure this is always the case for everyone and not only when the suspects are fellow magistrates “.
Today, Pinto’s comment is addressed to these words, who together with the deputy prosecutor Vittorio Ranieri Miniati requested the dismissal for the former chief prosecutor of Florence Giuseppe Creazzo, for the deputy Luca Turco and for the substitute Antonino Nastasi.
In the eyes of the Genoese investigators, the Florentine prosecutors did not have to ask the Parliament for authorization to acquire the communications of Senator Renzi, since the seizures from which the same communications emerged were charged to other subjects. And if anything, it will be the judge to assess whether the material attributable to the leader of Italia Viva can be used or not during the eventual trial against him, but there are no extremes to contest the crime of abuse of office to the magistrates who investigated him.
The Genoese prosecutors have moved in the diametrically opposite direction to that of the Senatewhich on Tuesday had raised the conflict of powers before the Constitutional Court (167 votes in favor and 76 against), approving the report of the junta for parliamentary immunities: the latter contested precisely the failure to request the go-ahead to the chamber of belonging to seize chat and email of the former prime minister.
Creazzo, Turco and Nastasi had been denounced after having asked for the indictment in the proceeding on the Open Open loans against Renzi himself and ten other suspects including Maria Elena Boschi (now head of the Italia Viva alla Camera), Luca Lotti (deputy, returned to the Democratic Party after self-suspension), the former president of the Alberto Bianchi foundation, the entrepreneur Marco Carrai.
Renzi today from Rome, during the national assembly of Italia Viva, on the Open case said: “I am not talking about it, but I will continue to reply blow by blow, as certain as we are of the civil battle we are waging”. The leader of IV had already announced that he will present a formal opposition to the request of the Public Prosecutor of Genoa and at that point a hearing will be set before the judge, to decide whether to definitively dismiss the position of the Florentine togas. “At that juncture – Renzi reiterated – I will ask to be questioned “.
