It is not yet clear whether loan player Timo Baumgartl will stay with Union Berlin beyond the summer. How things should continue for the 25-year-old should be decided in the next few weeks.
Opposite of image-Zeitung, Baumgartl was satisfied with his personal record in Berlin: “I came here to play games – in the Bundesliga and internationally. Now we are still represented in two competitions. We have a great chance to do something good in the cup. It’s worked out really well for me so far.” The defender currently has 25 games this season.
Baumgartl was loaned to Köpenicker by his parent club PSV Eindhoven in the summer. According to reports, Union has the option of committing the former Stuttgart to a purchase option.
According to Baumgartl, it is not yet clear whether this will happen. “But I can’t say right now if I’m going to stay. I’m still thinking about my girlfriend and my agent,” said the defender.
Despite his relatively young age, Baumgartl is already preparing for the time after his career. “I’m currently doing my bachelor’s degree in psychology at the Fernuniversität Hagen. The master’s should follow,” he said image-Interview on record.
