The Spaniard is satisfied with what he experienced in the winter tests, but specifies that the race will be another world. More speed is needed and the issue of tire pressure has to be resolved

Land Aprilia’s RS-GP did very well in the winter tests and many said they were ready to bet that Aleix Espargarò and Maverick Vinales will be able to fight for the podium right away. The times recorded in Sepang first and Mandalika then, in fact, suggest that they hit the mark in Noale, but the more experienced of the two riders took care of dampening any easy enthusiasm.
“Trials are trials – explained Aleix Espargarò – It is completely different from a race. Even if you go fast in a lap or get a good race pace, it doesn’t mean that you will win in a race: there are so many things there that are different. You have to fight with your opponents. Then there is the problem that the pressure in the front tire increases when you follow another rider ”. This is a criticality that still remains unsolved in Aprilia and that could create many problems in the middle of a grand prix, even if there remains the consolation that other brands also seem to suffer particularly from being in the midst of the group.
“I have the impression that our bike behaves better when we do our laps alone” – added the Spaniard, also explaining that he is worried about top speed. The RS-GP, in fact, is very fast in the corners, but on the straights it still suffers a little compared to Ducati: “We reach higher cornering speeds, but if you can’t go at those cornering speeds, you’re in trouble, even if now we had an extra power that will definitely help us ”.
