CASALE MONFERRATO. A subsidiary that sells gas, but from which the Municipality does not use it, preferring the Chiurlo company for heating. And the question raised yesterday by the former president of the Anpi Gabriele Farello, which was already addressed at the end of 2020 by the director Giorgio Demezzi. And it is added to the discussion of the other evening in the Council for the motion of the Democratic Party with which the administration was asked to take a step back on the “commercial naming” of Palaferraris. Motion not accepted, despite the debate has turned on the recent problems of the energy crisis and the rise in bills.
In September 2020, through a tender, the supply of methane gas for 2021 was awarded to the Chiurlo company in Basaldella di Campoformido (Udine) for an annual amount of approximately 530 thousand euros. The firm had offered a discount of four cents per cubic meter. The Energica company had finished second in the ranking. Demezzi, however, had raised the problem of the correctness of the amounts invoiced in the bill and the Chiurlo company itself, in May 2021, had recognized that part of the complaints, made by the Municipality, were correct, so much so that the company would have issued reimbursements for figures invoiced higher than the amount due.
The director Demezzi then presented a question “on the total amount of gas supply for 2021 and the total amount of reimbursements issued for previous incorrect invoicing”. In fact, the Municipality had decided «not to carry out more calls for tenders, but to contact the Consib which, as a public body, would have indicated to the Municipality how to behave. Energica with this intervention has been put out of the game as it is participated by the Municipality ».
The debate in the Council dealt with the issue of the energy crisis and the exponential increase in bills with heavy consequences on users. “In the face of this serious situation – says born Fabio Lavagno – I had invoked sobriety in patronage, but the president of Energica paid in installments the winter bills without charges”. Another issue raised by Lavagno concerns the entry of Energica in the sale of electricity just when there will be increases. The non-containment of tariffs and the failure to study alternative energy policies, in contrast with the sponsorship of the Sports Hall, are criticized.
Mayor Federico Riboldi replies that «we don’t want to change the name to Palaferraris and the Filiberti tensile structure. The name “Energica” will simply be placed side by side. We made proposals to remember Ferraris and Filiberti, but they were not accepted. The use of “commercial naming” to lower management costs is a positive and advantageous practice ».
