To be clear, BMW’s Iconic Glow lighting is certainly not new. The ostentatious BMW X6 already has kidneys that shine into the darkness like a set of over-bleached teeth. And the facelifted BMW 8-series now also gets it. In addition, all versions of the large sports car – the Coupé, Cabriolet and Gran Coupé – will now receive an M Sport package, which includes different bumpers all around, 19-inch M alloy wheels and an upgraded braking system.
BMW 8 Series also available with retro BMW Motorsport logo
Optional on all 8 Series variants is the BMW Motorsport logo. The retro emblem can be ordered on several BMWs and celebrates the 50th anniversary of the BMW M department. In the interior, the 8-series now gets a number of M-specific extras as standard, including an M sports steering wheel and stainless steel pedals. New is the infotainment display, which has grown to 12.3 inches. More driving assistants are also available.
BMW M8 returns, but only as 625 hp Competition
The engine range remains largely unchanged. The 840i (six-cylinder, 333 hp) is the only one available with rear-wheel drive or 4WD, the M850i (V8, 530 hp) and 840d (six-cylinder, 340 hp) always have four-wheel drive. Of course, the BMW M8 will also return in the delivery program, but only as a Competition. The ‘normal’ M8 (V8, 600 hp) disappears, only the 625 hp Competition remains.
