
ROME, JAN 26 – Ilaria Ester Bonacossa for the new Museum of Digital Art in Milan, Andrea Viliani at the Museum of Civilizations in Rome, Tiziana D’Angelo at the Paestum and Velia Park, Enrico Rinaldi for the Sepino park, Vincenzo Belelli for the Archaeological Park of Cerveteri and Tarquinia, Axel Hemery at the Pinacoteca di Siena. They are the 6 new directors of autonomous museums nominated at the end of the international competition. This was announced by the Minister of Culture Franceschini. The commission, which evaluated 156 candidates, was chaired by Stefano Baia Curioni, associate professor of economic history at the “Luigi Bocconi” University of Milan and expert in cultural economics, and composed of: Nadia Barrella, full professor of museology at the University of Campania “Luigi Vanvitelli”; Valérie Huet, professor of ancient history at the University of Western Brittany and the Jean Bérard Center; José María Luzón Nogué, Real Academia de Belòlas Artes de San Fernando, former director of the Prado Museum; Antonia Pasqua Recchia, former secretary general of the Ministry of Culture. According to the public selection procedure, the Director General of Museums, Massimo Osanna, chose the six new directors from among the three candidates indicated by the Commission for each institution. “Italian museums have changed profoundly in recent years and are today an excellence recognized in the world, because the right people have gone to guide them through rigorous international selections”, comments Minister Franceschini. “The intersection between autonomy and the quality of the directors has made it possible to take important steps forward in the modernization of the museum system and in the strengthening of protection and scientific production. I thank the commission for the careful work carried out in recent months which has led to the appointment by the general director of museums, Massimo Osanna, of six new directors, five from Italy and one from France ”.
