Tolisso, Müller, Sané and Gnabry fold Hertha (Ekkelenkamp’s flag goal), which is only three points from the relegation zone
Distances restored. Bayern Munich breaks through Berlin by winning 4-1 at Hertha and returns to +6 on second Borussia Dortmund. Goals from Tolisso (on 25 ‘), Müller (on 45’), Sanè (on 75 ‘) and Gnabry (79’) decide. Ekkelenkamp’s goal was useless (81 minutes). The club from the capital, which has only scored one point in its first three games of 2022, has only 3 points clear of the relegation zone.
Nagelsmann, having recovered many of the players unavailable for Covid in recent weeks, lines up his team with an unusual 3-4-2-1 with Gnabry and Coman at full range. Just 2 minutes passed and Bayern took the lead: on an assist from Müller from the right it was Tolisso who beat Schwolow, but the Var canceled the French for offside. At 12 ‘it was Coman who wasted a good chance by not managing to beat the opposing goalkeeper from a good position. At 21 ‘Lewandowski also tries, on an assist from Tolisso, but Schwolow is reactive on his heel shot. Hertha is also seen, on Belfodil’s header Neuer is attentive. The goal is in the air and arrives at 25 ‘: Lewandowski wins the ball and serves Coman who from the left puts the ball in the middle where Tolisso is good at anticipating two opponents and beating Schwolow. At 34 ‘Tolisso touches the double personal: this time it is Gnabry who breaks through on the right and puts the ball in the area, Lewandowski does not get there, favoring the intervention of the French midfielder who, however, does not center the goal. At the last minute of the first half, Müller’s 2-0 arrives: on Kimmich’s assist the Bavarian attacking midfielder just touches the ball to send him behind Schwolow.
The second half opens with the umpteenth chance for Bayern: Sané overtakes a couple of opponents, reaches the bottom and puts the ball in the center for Gnabry who, however, with an empty goal, does not impact well with the ball. Hertha is also seen, with Darida who, however, shoots out from an excellent position. Bayern responds in the 63rd minute with Müller (good Schwolow) and then in the 75th minute with Sanè: the former City intercepts Schwolow’s pass and, albeit out of the way, puts the ball in the empty goal. In the 79th minute Gnabry’s 4-0 also arrived, who a few seconds earlier had wasted a good opportunity: thrown in depth by Kimmich, the former Arsenal, in the race, still beats Schwolow. At 81 ‘Hertha found the goal of the flag with the 2000 class Ekkelenkamp, who entered the field just 20 seconds earlier. The Dutchman is favored by a rebound between Jovetic and Neuer and thus beats the opposing goalkeeper. There is still time for a goal canceled by the Var in Sanè, but for Bayern it changes little: yet another goal of the season (65 goals in 20 days) and distances from Dortmund restored.
