A new controversy has been generated in esports, this time due to a hoax that was recently discovered in the competitive female scene in Mexico.
It is about the deception carried out by a player of Super Smash Bros. of nick DarkPuma, who posed as a woman to compete in women’s tournaments of the video game and in which he used the nick Noir, which is originally used by one of his friends.

According to LevelUp, the deception was reported by Gaming Sisters, organization dedicated to the creation of women’s tournaments in Mexico, also accusing him that he had been committing these frauds for a long time, winning money prizes.

Rendragon, Mexican gamer and streamer, also commented on the incident, stating that she knew DarkPuma in a Smash Bros. community on Facebook and never thought she could do something like that.
“I am horrified and disappointed by what he did (…) although he apologized and returned what he stole, the bracket cannot be undone; the results of both tournaments would have been completely different were it not for this heinous act,” Rendragon stated.
As you can read from the tweets and statement above, DarkPuma has been banned from not only the tournaments where his cheating was discovered, but others he has been participating in. The player ended up returning the money he won from the last competition where he participated posing as for a woman and also, publishing a statement on his Twitter account, a profile that is not available at this time since apparently it was deleted by him.
