Vitesse after red card Openda down at home against FC Groningen

Loïs Openda was the match winner in De Kuip last week, now the Belgian top scorer of Vitesse once again played a leading role. Only a negative one this time. Openda was sent off with a red card in the 35th minute after intervention by the video referee. Openda gave a slight elbow to Mike te Wierik’s ribs.

FC Groningen, where Melayro Bogarde had a base place for the first time, quickly took advantage of the surplus situation. After a free kick by Tomas Suslov, Jørgen Strand Larsen headed the goal in the 39th minute (0-1).

Due to the defeat, Vitesse failed to equalize in points with Feyenoord, which will visit NEC on Sunday. FC Groningen climbed to eleventh position.
