The new format of Champions League, which will be used starting from the 2024/25 season, will guarantee a significant increase in revenues thanks to television rights and commercial revenues. As reported by the newspaper The Times, the UEFA forecast an overall increase of 40%, thus breaking through the threshold of 5 billion euros per year. A clear testimony to the growth of the project are the offers received from four agencies that would like to sell the rights worldwide on behalf of UEFA: Uefa Club Competitions SA, Team Marketing, Sports, Infront e Endeavour-IMG.
Obviously, the economic resources also interest the clubs that will participate in the European competition. A strategy that is not limited to strengthening the top European clubs, but extends to the definitive annihilation of the project super lega. The format will include 36 teams and not 32, with a single championship for a total of ten games to be played per team against opponents chosen on the basis of the ranking. The top 16 will enter the knockout stage. Money and competitiveness, just what the founders of the Superlega wanted.
