In 2021 BMW Motorrad has achieved the best sales result in its history with an increase of 14.8%.
With 194,261 motorcycles, BMW Motorrad sold nearly 25,000 more motorcycles worldwide last year than it did in 2020. A plus of 14.8 percent.
The greatest growth was achieved in Europe. Italy (16,034 units/+15.2%), Spain (12,616 units/+14.4%) and France (19,887 units/+13.4%) were the most important growth markets. In total, 9,100 more BMWs were sold on the European market than in 2020. The Asian market also grew, with China leading the way (14,309 units/+21.4%). The German brand also grew in the United States: 16,030 units (+32.1%). The German home market remains by far the most important for BMW Motorrad with 25,972 units sold, very slightly less than the year before.
It will probably come as no surprise to anyone that BMW’s boxer models are responsible for the largest sales numbers. The R1250GS and R1250GS Adventure alone are good for 60,000 units. And last year, the BMW M1000RR was BMW Motorrad’s first true M-model. With 1,070 units sold, a niche of course, but a wonderful showcase for the technical ability of a manufacturer.
