Elliot Page, star di The Umbrella Academy, joins the Italian project as executive producer In my name, documentary directed by Nicolò Bassetti (Sacred GRA, Magnificent Fortunes).
In my name, what is it about?
In my name starts from the personal experience of Bassetti: the gender transition of his son Matteo. The film offers an intimate yet universal look at the challenges encountered along this path. Nico (33 years old), Leo (30), Andrea (25) and Raff (23) are four friends from different parts of Italy who live in Bologna, and they share their gender transitions – from feminine to masculine – at different times in their lives. In my name follows the protagonists as they bravely face, day by day, the obstacles of a strictly binary world. Living one’s life fully and with dignity is a matter of survival for everyone. Something for which you need to be resolute, have patience and arm yourself with a lot of irony.
Thus it is reported by the official synopsis of the film, that you promise us to tackle really important issues that have never been extensively dealt with in the Italian cinema scene.

The film will see the special collaboration of Elliot Page, who personally lived experiences similar to those that will be narrated in the film. The actor, producer and activist said:
“What makes Nel my name unique is the sensitivity and attention with which it tells, all the different pieces that form a person’s identity. It’s a meditation on trans humanity and I’ve never seen another movie like this one. Knowing that Bassetti has always confronted his trans son in the course of the making is a beautiful thing for me, and I think that life experience and that input are clearly visible in the perspective of the film. I am honored to be part of it and I can’t wait for everyone to see it ”.
Director Nicolò Bassetti he added:
“The personal experience as a parent has allowed me, as a director, to find the necessary security to establish an intimate relationship with the protagonists of this story, built on trust and complicity. And to share the emotions. I am grateful to Elliot for the strength of his words, which capture, with the effectiveness of lived experience, the direction of my gaze. And they give the film the strength to find its way into the world ”.
In addition to Elliot Page, In my name is produced by New Urban Landscapes, a manufacturer founded by the director himself to whom we owe the project Sacred GRA (2010-2015), which includes a book (Quodlibet Publishing, 2013), a film (of which he curated the original idea, winner of the Golden Lion at the Venice Film Festival in 2013), a pièce (Biennale Teatro , 2014), a photographic exhibition (2015) and a series of lectures. The company also produced other plays and the documentary Magnificent Fates (2016), also directed by Bassetti.
There will also be production Lucia Nicolai e Marcello Paolillo per Art of Panic, an Italian production house and a creative consultancy agency specializing in the evaluation, development, and production of transversal projects involving international cinema talent. In my name will be previewed in the Panorama section on the occasion of the Berlinale, which this year will take place between 10 and 20 February.
