Spanish giants Real Madrid have reportedly entered the race to sign Kalvin Phillips from Leeds United.
It is said that manager Carlo Ancelotti is a huge fan of the English midfielder.
This report comes after it was revealed on Monday that Liverpool were preparing a transfer bid for the player, who is said to want to play Champions League football.
In a recent report, Spanish publication The National stated that the Reds are lining up a £33.4 million bid for Phillips with other European heavyweights in Real Madrid, PSG and Bayern Munich also trying to lure the Englishman.
Real Madrid reportedly look at Phillips as a long-term successor to their midfield maestro Casemiro.
Phillips was asked about a possible move away from Elland Road back in December.
“I just want to focus on getting back fit,” Phillips told Mail Sport. “But I speak to the owner [Andrea Radrizzani] regularly. I want a new contract. I’m very happy here.”
Meanwhile, in the reports from Spain, it is also stated that Phillips would definitely be interested in making the move to Real Madrid.
The Yorkshire midfielder has endured a difficult season in the Premier League, having registered one assist in 12 appearances before suffering an injury.
Despite this, what we’ve seen from the player in 2021 including his performances for England at the Euro 2020, there is no doubt Philipps will instantly improve any side in the world that he eventually makes a move to.
