It’s him again: Mitchell Weiser from Werder Bremen has been infected again with the corona virus. Another positive test by the 27-year-old was announced on Tuesday.
It is not the first time that Weiser has become infected. Weiser had already been infected in December. The story makes it all the more bitter that it is now widely known that Weiser has so far refused a vaccination against Covid.
This has also become a problem outside of the infection. Weiser regularly had to go into quarantine at home as a contact person and could not find a real connection to the team.
Weiser came on as a substitute in the win against Fortuna Düsseldorf last week and didn’t play wrong either. The fact that he now has to take another break is another setback in Weiser’s Bremen career, which is not without stumbling blocks.
Athletic trainer Günther Stoxreiter has also submitted a positive test and will have to stay at home for the time being.
With Weiser, Werder lacks an option for next Saturday’s game in Paderborn. It is precisely under new coach Ole Werner that the long-awaited promotion should finally be achieved. Werder is at least one point away from the relegation place, where Heidenheim is currently.
It could also be tight for Felix Agu. The 22-year-old recently complained about problems with the patellar tendon, and playing on Saturday could possibly come too early.
