BOLZANO, 18 JAN – Almost exactly one year after the landslide that destroyed the Eberle hotel in Bolzano, work has begun to remove the debris. “This is a very demanding job, because the material must be separated according to its type”, the owner Stefan Zisser tells ANSA. “After this first phase of removal, the rock face will be made safe and only then can the actual demolition work begin”, he explains. On January 5, 2021, a landslide destroyed the hotel, fortunately without causing casualties, because the structure was closed due to a pandemic. The structure, which overlooks the city and is located near the famous promenades of Sant’Osvaldo, was hit by about 2,000 cubic meters of rocks, which, around 15.15, broke off leaving a wound about forty meters high on the wall. still visible today, which will now be secured. “Even if the future is still uncertain and the reconstruction of our hotel is still a long way off, it is important not to sit still and take a first step,” says Zisser with satisfaction. For the duration of the works it will not be possible for pedestrians to cross the construction site area to descend from the Sant’Osvaldo promenades towards Santa Maddalena di Sotto. (HANDLE).
