ROME, 17 JAN – Confirm Pietro Curzio and Margherita Cassano at the top of the Supreme Court, in their respective roles of first president and deputy president. This is the proposal approved by a majority by the Commission for executive positions of the CSM, after the Council of State canceled the appointment of both, accepting the appeal of one of the competitors, Angelo Spirito, section president of the Supreme Court. The plenum of the CSM will be expressed on the proposal next Wednesday. A race against time to give full legitimacy to Curzio who next Friday will be the protagonist of the inauguration ceremony of the judicial year. Repeating the same names, giving better reasons for the prevalence of Curzio and Cassano over Spirito, with an eye to the findings made by Palazzo Spada, is therefore the path chosen by the majority of the Commission. The vote came at the end of a session on the river, which began in the early afternoon and went on with a break of one hour until the evening, in which the different opinions of those who consider the confirmation urgent, especially in view of the ceremony of Friday, the last in the presence of Sergio Mattarella, and those who instead contest method and merit, starting from the haste to give an answer without weighing with due attention the questions posed by the Council of State. In the end, the president of the Commission Antonio D’Amato, the laity Fulvio Gigliotti (M5S) and Alessio Lanzi (Forza Italia) and the robed Alessandra Dal Moro (Area) voted in favor of the majority proposal.
