BRUSSELS – One billion vaccines distributed in 144 countries: this is the goal achieved and exceeded by Covax, the international program launched in 2020 by the World Health Organization (WHO) to ensure the fairest and widest possible dissemination of anti- Covid especially in the poorest countries.
However, those responsible for the program stressed that there is still a long way to go on the front of the battle against the pandemic that must be waged on a global scale. In fact, 49% of the planet’s population has not yet received even a dose. Covax’s goal is to have at least half of the world’s population vaccinated by half a year.
