Copenhagen – A team made up of Danish manufacturer of Cobod 3D printers, from the Mexican cement factory Cemex and the German University of Technology in Oman (goodtech) made the largest 3D printed building in the world using real concrete.
The 190 sq m structure is conceived as a typical Omani house, with three bedrooms, a living room, a kitchen and an entrance.
The cement used for the walls of the house it cost a total of 1,600 euros.
The work took place in two phases, the first of which focused on the training of Omani workers and on fine-tuning of the project, followed by the actual construction lasting five days.
“While we are proud to have always helped cement and concrete manufacturers develop 3D printable dry mix mortars, in this case aWe insisted on a solution that used real concrete made with locally available materials, a technique that will be necessary for the mass application of our technology, “he said Henrik Lund-Nielsen, founder of Cobod.
