Chris Evert is sick. The 18 Grand Slam champion announced it via Twitter: “I would like to tell you that I have been diagnosed with ovarian cancer in the first stage. I am very confident I can overcome it and I am sure that the chemotherapy will give good results. Luckily we found out in time” .
The 67-year-old US champion asked to respect her privacy: “I hope you understand my need to focus on health and care. Anyway you will see me connecting on Espn sometime for some comment on the Australian Open.”
Chrissie started her treatments this week. her sister Jeanne, also a former player, died in February two years ago from the same disease: “When I have chemo – said Evert -. I think of her and I feel she will help me overcome this difficult test” . The sample was operated on twice, the last in mid-December, and the tests found cancerous cells: “But the doctors reassured me. There is a 90 percent chance that the chemo will work.”
