ROME, JAN 14 – Pianist Ruth Slenczynska will turn 97 tomorrow and her new album will be released on March 18 for the Decca record company. And thus becomes one of the longest-lived artists, having been in business for over 90 years. The BBC reports. The pianist, of American nationality, in fact experienced a very early success, to the point of being considered the greatest enfant prodige by Mozart. She made her debut in Berlin at the age of six and in Paris at seven, and considered Rachmaninoff’s last living disciple.
