BRUSSELS, 12 JAN – EU emissions in the energy and industry sectors fell by more than 11% between 2019 and 2020, the most significant annual decline since 2005. Total emissions of the sectors covered by the ETS, the EU’s carbon trading system, decreased by 11.4% between 2019 and 2020 (-11% in Italy), exceeding the record decrease of 9% , recorded between 2018 and 2019.
