People who are involved in the booster campaign on behalf of the GGD Twente may continue to work at the GGD after the booster campaign. For example, the GGD wants to be able to scale up more quickly during any subsequent vaccination rounds.
It was one of the reasons why the booster campaign in the Netherlands got off to a slow start. Staff had to be sought with man and power. The GGD Twente will try to prevent this problem in any subsequent rounds of injection.
The national GGD is taking into account two additional rounds of vaccinations this year, chairman Rouvoet said in the Telegraaf on Saturday. The next booster campaign would be scheduled before the summer, around May and June. And also in the autumn, around October, another round of injections is taken into account.
In addition, it cannot be ruled out that there will be another booster campaign next year.
‘Easy scaling’
“When the large-scale vaccination activities decrease, we retain employees. This way we can easily scale up,” the Twentse GGD told ANP news agency.
In the coming period, for example, the vaccinators can be used to vaccinate “special target groups”, such as homeless people and asylum seekers. They can also receive additional training so that they can work on test streets. They could also help with information activities.
The GGD in Twente has four vaccination locations. One of these, the stadium of football club FC Twente, will probably be completed at the end of January. The other three locations, in Enschede, Almelo and Nijverdal, will remain available for the time being.
