ROME, 10 JAN – The last weekend of the Christmas holidays ends with a minus sign. Despite the day of the Befana, box office receipts went down compared to the previous week, perhaps also penalized by the increase in coronavirus infections. Over the weekend, therefore, the total proceeds amounted to just over 5 million (5,048,687) against over 6 million seven days earlier (6,380,925), with a decrease of 21%. The comparison with the same period of 2020, pre-pandemic, when the collection was 13 million 712 thousand euros (-63%) is merciless. The top ten follows that of the previous days with Spider-Man leading the ranking with 922 thousand euros at the box office (and a total in four weeks of almost 22 million which leaves all the others behind), followed on the podium by Belli Ciao of the comic duo Pio and Amedeo with 757 thousand euros (2.2 million in two weeks) and the film loved by children Me Contro Te with 720 thousand euros (2.2 million in two weeks). Matrix Resurrections is permanently in fourth place with € 585,000 in receipts (€ 1.8 million in two weeks). The King’s Man enters the ranking in fifth position with the chapter on the origins of the independent intelligence agency which in 5 days on the big screen collects 557 thousand euros. The second and last new entry of the week is, in ninth place, the award-winning A hero of the Iranian Asghar Farhadi who takes home 214 thousand euros in 7 days. Also in the rankings House of Gucci, sixth with 4.6 million in four weeks, Sing 2 – Always stronger that touches 2 million in three weeks and is seventh ahead of Luca Marinelli’s Diabolik that reaches 2.5 million in four weeks . The comedy La Befana vien di notte II – The origins closes with 456 thousand euros in fifteen days. (HANDLE).
