Chris Noth, aka Mr Big, was one of the most beloved characters of the cult TV series, Sex and the City. The love story with Sarah Jessica Parker, iconic Carrie Bradshaw on the set, captivated millions of viewers. Therefore, no one would have imagined such an ending. From respected actor, brilliant and glamorous television seducer, to sex offender.
Two women accused him of violence, after the release of the first two episodes of the show, and for him it was the beginning of the end. The great fuss that has arisen, the controversy, the indignation, despite the fact that he has denied everything, have led the writers of And Just Like That, sequel to the series “Sex and the City”, to erase it from the ending.
Carrie’s husband had left the scene after the second episode of And Just Like That: to crush a heart attack after an intense workout on an exercise bike, giving life to one of the most moving scenes of the series. But, according to the script, Mr. Big was supposed to return for a micro-role in the final episode. A romantic cameo in the grand finale on February 3, but her presence was deemed inappropriate in light of the tales of two women at theHollywood Reporter, who accused him of committing serious violence against them years later. Accusations to which the actor replied that “if there had been sex, it was consensual.”
Chris Noth was supposed to reappear in a short fantasy in which Carrie reunites with him on the Pont des Art in Paris: an important place in the couple’s history where the sex columnist goes to scatter the ashes of her loved one on the Seine. The mini-clip was shot months ago, sources have learned of Variety: it has now been judged “a step not sufficiently significant to justify saving it” by the scissors of the editing room.
Also because his position worsened after the first two women who made him end up in the dock were joined by others. They all told the media that Noth had inappropriate attitudes with them on set. The actor replied only to the first two (who asked for anonymity last December): according to him, if there had been sex, it was consensual.
But what happened could not pass on the sly and not be considered. So, after the accusations, and despite the denials, the 67-year-old became a “persona non grata” on television: CBS has also canceled him from the next episodes of the series “The Equalizer”, while Parker, with co-stars Cynthia Nixon (Miranda) and Kristin Davis (Charlotte), expressed solidarity with her accusers: “We know how difficult it is to come forward and we commend them for their courage.”
“And Just Like That”, created by executive producer Michael Patrick King, airs in the US on Hbo Max and in Italy on Sky: three of the four protagonists of “Sex and the City” (Samantha was sent to London after disagreements with Carrie) and her partners face friendships, love affairs and ailments once they cross the 50-year mark.
