Jürgen Klopp has confirmed that there are three new cases of Covid-19 in its team of players at Liverpool FC and further infections in the staff.
The Reds had to do without players like Virgil van Dijk, Fabinho and Curtis Jones in recent weeks due to positive test results. Van Dijk and Fabinho were able to make their comeback in the 1-0 defeat against Leicester a few days ago.
Before Liverpool’s top game against Chelsea on Sunday, Klopp had more bad news ready: “We have three new Covid cases in the team and a few more in the staff. It’s not that cool at the moment.”
“I can’t reveal the names because we still have to go through all the processes, a proper PCR and all these things. You will see it on the team sheet the day after tomorrow. It will then be pretty clear who is affected or infected.”
When asked if Liverpool could ask to postpone the Chelsea game, he added: “Not yet but we don’t know”.
“We’ve never had a real outbreak where 10, 15, 20 players got sick. It’s more like every day for us. As I said, it feels like a lottery when you stand there in the morning and waiting for the result. It was pretty much every day now – another one today. “
“We’ll have to wait, the boys aren’t there yet, so we’ll have to wait. Probably not at this moment, but we don’t know what it will look like in a few hours.”
Liverpool FC also have to do without the injured Takumi Minamino and Thiago, as Klopp said: “I would say Taki is probably closer, he’s running outside. Thiago, not yet. That means he’s a little longer It’s a hip problem that we don’t know where it’s from, so we’ll have to wait a little longer. “
