The top ten was drawn up from the official F1 website, which asked the drivers of the 2021 World Championship to vote for the best of the year. Max Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton didn’t vote but …
Max Verstappen has earned the praise of his rivals by being the most voted by the F1 drivers themselves in the fourth edition of the poll Driver’s Driver of the Year, set up by the official F1 website. The protagonists of the most exciting season of recent decades were asked to rate the performance of their rivals and thus create their personal top 10 ranking.
The Dutchman of Red Bull, who became world champion for the first time after an exciting and daring duel with Lewis Hamilton, preceded the seven-time British world champion; third Lando Norris, architect of a brilliant season in McLaren. At the foot of the podium, Ferrari driver Carlos Sainz precedes team mate Charles Leclerc.
In sixth position the returning and two-time champion Fernando Alonso (returned to F1 with Alpine-Renault after two seasons of absence). Seventh Pierre Gasly (AlphaTauri) ahead of George Russell (Williams) who will take over from Valtteri Bottas in Mercedes next season. To close the top ten Esteban Ocon, winner with the other Alpine of the Hungarian GP, and surprisingly in the top ten – by virtue of the constant growth in the season despite the zero in the standings – Mick Schumacher, debut in F1 with Haas. These are the drivers who took part in the vote: Fernando Alonso, Pierre Gasly, Nicholas Latifi, Charles Leclerc, Nikita Mazepin, Lando Norris, Esteban Ocon, Daniel Ricciardo, George Russell, Carlos Sainz, Mick Schumacher, Lance Stroll, Yuki Tsunoda and Sebastian Vettel.
