Yesterday it was announced that from December 27, an extra injection location will be opened exclusively for the booster campaign in the Grolsch Veste in Enschede. In order to achieve the order of 60,000 injections per week, the GGD will scale up quickly in the coming period.
“We will open for this assignment in the evenings and during the holidays. We receive support for this from GGD employees, the Ministry of Defense, general practitioners and care institutions,” says a spokesperson for GGD Twente.
Recruit personnel
While other regions are already working at full capacity, the GGD Twente is currently recruiting staff. “A comparison with other regions is difficult because they are organized differently. We are currently still fully scaling up. With staff, education and training,” says the spokesperson.
According to the national government, around 7 January 2022, all people aged 18 and older can have made an appointment for a booster vaccination. By the second half of January at the latest, everyone aged 18 and older can receive a booster vaccination.
It is of course the intention to really wait until it is the turn of your birth year.
Not it’s turn, still poked
As with the previous campaign, people who are younger than the next group are also poked every now and then. That is not the intention. The GGD pays attention to this, but cannot completely prevent this.
“The national call center filters out the people who have wrongly made an appointment, but sometimes people slip through. The intention is of course to really wait until it is the turn of your birth year,” says the spokesperson for GGD Twente.
Via (social) media, everyone is called up for the booster vaccination based on year of birth. This way you know when an appointment can be made online. The call goes from old to young. You can also read who can currently make an appointment for the booster vaccination on the RIVM website. It is strongly recommended to make an appointment online.
The booster is intended to boost the immune system and is applied at an accelerated rate, because it offers the best protection against the very rapidly advancing omikron variant of the coronavirus. The booster is given at least three months after the last vaccination or three months after a corona infection.
