A truly moving story
This is the story of a cat adopting a litter, after she lost her little ones. Even those little dogs had lost someone, their mother. And they had no one else who could think of them. So mother cat decided to make a really generous gesture. Proving that a mom’s love surpasses everything. Even belonging to completely different worlds.
According to the volunteers of a animal shelter in Langebaan, South Africa, Katryn is a stray kitten who has been wandering alone in the street for a long time. She arrived at the shelter with her children, but none of them managed to survive.
Katryn arrived at Langebaan Animal Care as abandoned and unfortunately her puppies did not survive. She was still producing milk, so we welcomed her and kept her safe until we were able to sterilize her.
The kitten was sad and desolate. She cried every day for the lack of her puppies. Izelle Marallich, president of Langebaan Animal, decided to give her a temporary home, perhaps with other animals, to keep her company as she felt alone.
She is extremely affectionate and was not afraid of any of my foster dogs. She walked up to them and rubbed against each of them.
But everything changed when a litter of orphans arrived in the house.
Cat adopts a litter
At first they were a little confused and turned their back on her, but she was persistent and continued to take care of them. They started getting used to her licking them until she lay down with them and left their side.
Now they are a family. And the new mother was also able to breastfeed them. From that day Katryn was happy and complete again.
Katryn claimed the puppies as her own and has been nursing them, protecting and grooming them ever since. It was so special to see him in real life and realize how amazing animals are at caring for puppies, no matter what species they are.
