The Dutch hockey players have booked their first win in the Pro League. In the Wagener stadium, the Orange squad was 2-1 too strong for Olympic and world champion Belgium. On Friday, both teams had already met each other during the debut of national coach Jeroen Delmee. Then it was tied (2-2) and the Netherlands took an extra run through the shoot-outs.
In the stadium empty due to the corona measures, the Orange took the lead early on. Thijs van Dam opened the scoring from the rebound. Within 5 minutes it was even 2-0 with a goal from Dennis Warmerdam, his first for the Orange in his second international match.
The 2-1 followed before halftime. Alexander Hendrickx passed the debuting goalkeeper Derk Meijer from a penalty corner. It remained in Amstelveen.
