Who were the Grateful Dead?
I Grateful Dead were a rock band, established in the late 60s and among the key artists of the so-called Summer of Love, or a series of events that took place during the summer of 1967 in the city of San Francisco. Born in 1965 in the Bay Area, against the backdrop of the psychedelic counterculture, they were among the fundamental artists in the history of what was called acid rock or psychedelic rock.
The group has been particularly long-lived, making great albums like Live/Dead, Workingman’s Dead e American Beauty, until the singer’s death Jerry Garcia, passed away from cardiac arrest in 1995. Since then the other members of the group have continued their musical careers, some as soloists, others starting new bands. Magazine Rolling Stone entered i Grateful Dead in fifty-seventh place in the list of the hundred great artists.
